St. Joe's Meeting Room Gets Facelift From Cargill Salt
According to Cargill Salt's Web site, the company has “the ability to sell over 18 million tons” of salt every year. That’s a lot of salt. But it’s the work Cargill did with just a few cans of paint for a few hours on a Friday in February that has really made a big difference in the community. Six volunteers from the Minneapolis-based company came to St. Joe's Feb. 20 and transformed what was once a bland, beige meeting space into a welcoming room filled with warm colors.
“The volunteer painting activity was very successful,” said St. Joe’s Volunteer Coordinator Mary Schoelch. “The room looks wonderful.”
Cargill also provided the painting supplies – rollers, brushes, painter’s tape, etc. – needed for the project, Schoelch said.
St. Joe’s relationship with Cargill Salt dates back to the mid ‘80s, said Cheryl Hunter, who coordinated the volunteer effort for Cargill. “We have a long history with St. Joe’s and enjoy working with an organization that supplies needs for children,” she said. In addition to providing a needed service for St. Joe’s, the Cargill volunteers had a great time, Hunter said. “When volunteer projects come up for St. Joe’s we have no problem getting volunteers,” she said.
