Drives and Donations

  • Hold a food drive to benefit Catholic Charities' three food shelves. Donations are needed year-round.
  • Hold a collection or drive to collect items on our agency wish list (pdf).
  • Hold a baby shower with donated items such as diapers and clothing benefitting new mothers and babies served by Prenatal Services.

Food Shelf Volunteer

  • Assist with distribution of fresh produce with your group of four on Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Branch I, Minneapolis

Groceries on Wheels Deliverer
  • Package and deliver groceries to homebound food shelf clients on the first or second Saturday of the month. Volunteers use their own vehicle. Great for families with younger children. Branch I, Minneapolis

Household Helpers

  • Assist elders with various fix-up projects including lawn care, household chores, raking or snow shoveling. Aging Services, Twin Cities

Improvement Project Volunteers

  • Assist with various interior painting projects including walls and door frames. Volunteers are asked to provide one to two gallons of paint and painter's tape. All other supplies are provided. Exodus Residence, Minneapolis
  • Help with general landscaping and mulching or donate flowers to plant around the grounds. Multiple sites throughout Twin Cities

Refugee Sponsor
  • Assist in preparing for the arrival of a refugee family. Meet family at the airport and help them become acquainted to the community. Serve as a guide, friend and advocate. Help our staff find housing and furniture and help with transportation needs. Great for a congregation. Migration and Refugee Services, Twin Cities

Social Event Organizer
  • Develop engaging activities for low-income male and female residents (arts and crafts, bingo, exercise or movie programs, to name a few). Exodus Residence, Minneapolis
  • Develop activities to engage residents who are in the late-stages of chronic alcoholism (arts and crafts, exercise or movie programs, to name a few). Glenwood Residence, Minneapolis
  • Assist and encourage the development of social support and recreational or hobby-type activities. Evergreen Residence,Veterans' and Community Housing, Minneapolis

Meal Provider

  • Purchase, prepare and serve a meal for 200-250 individuals. Training and assistance with meal planning is provided. Breakfast 6:15 a.m. – 8 a.m. or lunch 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Branch III, Minneapolis
  • Prepare and serve a meal for 55 individuals (food purchase appreciated). Kitchen staff will provide assistance. Breakfast 7 a.m. – 9 a.m., lunch 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., or dinner 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Family Service Center, Maplewood
  • Prepare a small meal to be served at 8 p.m. for 200-250 homeless individuals. Volunteers are asked to purchase food for the meal. Secure Waiting Space, Minneapolis
  • Prepare a small meal to be served for up to 70 single men and women in permanent housing. Volunteers are asked to purchase food for the meal. St. Christopher Place, St. Paul
  • Prepare and serve a meal for approximately 300 homeless and near-homeless clients (food purchase appreciated). Breakfast (weekends only) 8 a.m. - 10 a.m., Dorothy Day Center, St. Paul
