What does Catholic Charities do?
Catholic Charities serves those most in need, regardless of faith. Our programs help children, families and low-income or homeless adults in the 12-county metropolitan area of Minneapolis and St. Paul. See our program list.


How is Catholic Charities related to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis?
Catholic Charities is the human services arm of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, but is structured as a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. In total, the Archdiocese provides funding for 5 percent of Catholic Charities' $36 million operating budget.


Is Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis part of a national organization?
Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis is a member and affiliate organization of Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), one of the largest private networks of social service providers in the country. Each affiliate organization of CCUSA provides programs and services to respond to the specific needs in its region.


Who is your Chief Executive Officer?
Paul Martodam began his role as Catholic Charities' CEO Jan. 1, 2010.
Prior to this position, Martodam was CEO of Catholic Charities Community Services in Phoenix, a position he held since 1993. He holds a bachelor’s in psychology from St. Louis University and a Master’s in Public Administration/NonProfit Administration from St. Cloud State University.


How are donations used?
In the 2009 fiscal year, our operating budget was $36 million, and we served 35,000 people in the Twin Cities community. The majority of funding (81%) is allocated to the agency's four program divisions: Children's Services (32%), Family Services (12%), Housing and Emergency Services (35%) and Advocacy (2%). View the pie charts, Form 990 and our financial statement for our most recent fiscal year.
