Fourth of July Fun in the Sun
Children at Northside Child Development Center painted their faces red white and blue and waved miniature American flags as they celebrated the Fourth of July at the Independence Day parade and ice cream social July 2.
The blazing sun and a temperature flirting with 90 degrees didn't stop the kids–and some parents, too–from making the annual walk around the neighborhood surrounding Northside. Perhaps the ice cream waiting for them at the end of the parade made the heat a bit more bearable.
"This is a great event for the kids," says Damont Jones, Northside program manager. "They really have a good time. It gives them a chance to get out in the neighborhood, and obviously they love the ice cream, too."
