Our Shared History
For several years, Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Service in the Twin Cities have matched families they serve with donors who shop for holiday gifts for these families. While the exchange between sponsors and families is anonymous, this matching program is very personal in that the sponsor connects with a real family or individuals by providing support based on their specific needs and wishes. Families benefit by celebrating the holidays with gifts. Most importantly, they know that someone personally cares about them. Donors say that they gain, too, as they experience the opportunity to put their love into action.
In 2002, Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Service combined their respective Adopt A Family and Sponsor a Family programs to make them even better and more efficient! In 2007, 1,880 families in the St. Paul and Minneapolis metro areas experienced joy and hope during the holiday season through this program. Please read our 2007 Summary Report for more details.
In addition, Sponsor A Family invites affiliate organizations to participate in the program to serve their families. The 2008 Affiliates are: Goodwill Easter Seals, Guild Inc., House Calls, RAP Head Start, and Reuben Lindh.
Thank you for helping to support families in our community!
