Target Helps Families Celebrate Thanksgiving
Families throughout the Twin Cities experience a memorable Thanksgiving meal because of the generosity of Target Corporation. Each November, Target donates food to create Thanksgiving baskets for clients at Catholic Charities’ Branch I Food Shelf.
The baskets include ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, dinner rolls, vegetables, cranberry sauce and apple pie for dessert. About 200 Target employee volunteers assembled and delivered the baskets to 350 families on Nov. 21, the fifth year of the partnership.
“So much work goes into this one day,” says Jim Durdle, director of Catholic Charities’ food shelves. “Target has been a wonderful partner for this event. The Thanksgiving baskets have been such a benefit to the families we serve.”
One of many corporations that supports Catholic Charities, Target remains a key partner in the fight to end poverty. Without this partnership, many families would go without the holiday feast.
“We simply couldn’t accomplish what we do without our corporate partners and thousands of volunteers every year,” says Director of Volunteer Resources Mary Bachman.
